Finally got started on the '66 frame-off. Replacing the 289-HEF-d20 with 5.0-435-Atlas 4 (maybe) or I may just keep the d20. Replacing the stock d30 & small bearing rear with d44 w/soft locker and large bearing rear w/soft locker and disc brakes. We gonna have some fun now;D

Are the two square tubes going out across the front end a support system to keep it stable or part of the lifting system or maybe a little of both.

Those are the diagonal braces for the engine bay.

Yes;D The only places not getting coated are the top of the cowl and outside of the fenders. The guy said it would be about 2500 depending on sandblasting cost, he has to farm it out for now.

I thought I was going to have room to start the EFI, tranny and axle swaps but I have to build a couple dirt modified chassis' first:( Dang work always getting in the way of fun%)

Can I ask why you aren’t coating the top of the cowl? is it personal preference or do you think it will interfere with hood alignment?

Personal preferance, I don't want to open it up and look into a black hole, want to have a little contrast. Technically it would be better to coat it also to seal the weld joint better but I think I can seam seal it good enough.

Finally got done with the modified chassis%) and got the rig where it belongs for now;D
Got it mostly stripped down to the undercarridge, welded in the new motor mounts and inboard shock mounts and am in the process of installing the fuel tank and running the lines. Also reworked the left front body mount.

Picked up the frame from the powdercoater;D Now I'm gonna have to take everything else to them cause it looks like crap next to the frame%)

Made a ball joint socket so I could get the knuckles on the PITA d44 that I'm (as someone else put it) poking myself in the eye with a sharp pencil over. It wouldn't be so bad if there were some real straight forward directions on it instead of trying to interpolate between generic and d60 directions:p

Just spent the last 11 hrs. replacing swampcoolers on my rentals and I am beat, doubt I get anything done on it this weekend:(
