I thought it was funny that the seller wanted to start the bidding at $3,500. That was what he paid for it.:eek:

Hell of a return on that investment huh?

He can build a tribute car to replace it and put the rest in the bank... And say that he used to own the real Bullit Mustang!

When the prices get this high, it's a shock to see the final price after you tack the buyer's fees on top.
I didn't see it mentioned, or broken down, but the actual bid at auction went to 3.4mil.
The additional $340,000 must mean the typical 10% buyers fees still apply!
A big sale and I'm sure they wanted their part. Seems more like a pound of flesh at that point!

When you're talking about a $20k selling price, the extra $2,000 doesn't seem so bad. But the big guns really keep the auction houses in the green.
Quite a few $300k and up, and a few million-plus sales that day.
