Just got her running,
*Veh info, 1974 stock 302, auto
just installed a new Edlebrock 2121 intake manifold with a Rochester 4v, new spark plug wires ,new MSD Blaster 2 coil, adapter on the distributor for the bigger cap. We just fires her up and she ran strong taking it easy, once I got on it she kicked down but almost simultaneously heard a "pop" and now she is dragging/lagging like there is no power almost like it is stuck in 2nd gear and wont shift down to 1st. Again just feels like is lagging power.

Any ideas where we should start to look?

Thank you in advance for your time/help,

Sonny

*UPDATE- found one spark plug wire popped off and a couple loose ones.

Double checked the timing, and it was off probably due to the spark plug wire off when we initially timed it.

Now it seems like it has a real high rpm before it wants to shift gears.

Still trying to dial her in , looking through past post.

Nope, doesn’t work that way. Not unless vacuum was connected and acting on it.
When using the number one spark plug as your timing reference, it’s only that one cylinder that you’re checking, and it doesn’t change based on what the other cylinders are doing.
It might flutter a little, or it can vary slightly, depending upon the erratic vacuum signal that comes along with misfires in other cylinders. But it should be very minor.
The actual timing of one cylinder remains exactly the same no matter what the other cylinders are doing.
Or not doing…

Vacuum leak maybe?
Changing the amount of manifold vacuum based on the new running parameters?
Vacuum line popped off the transmission shift modulator?
Vacuum modulator malfunctioning?
Needing adjustment?
