Was there ever a '76 Explorer package brochure/ad?

And here are some photos I gathered from our own Board's photo gallery from the 2006 Fabulous Fords event of a super clean blue '76 Explorer that I dream of nightly (you have to admit, some of the body angles are quite seductive) :p:

And finally from my collection of Explorer packaged EBs I have some of the '74 Viking Red option from BajaFresh's recent sales ad and some photos of Phred before being restored (love the red plaid seats on this model almost as much as I do the orange Indian blanket plaid seats of the '73 orange Explorers as seen in the last photo):

No Ben, I thought so too, but today in the mail I received a 1973 Ford Bronco Explorer brochure on the Burnt Orange or Grabber Blue EB Explorer package. It clearly shows pleated rear interior quarter panels in orange (I assume the blue ones had it too), so some Explorers had rear interior panels too. See photos added:

Was the Ranger the only model that had the rear interior panels????%)%)

In digging through some old Off Road Magazines I have (I have almost every single issue from 1979 - 2000), I found the only article I have ever seen with a '76 EB Explorer in it. Although not a feature article, this Tech Article from 1985 clearly focuses on the "refreshing" of a 9 year old '76 Explorer:

Enjoy!

I had to go in the vault to find this stuff.

BTW,
The colors in the brochures were not the only paint colors you could get.
I have seen original paint Explorers on E-bay in different colors than what was in the brochure.

PS I think that is Andy (Blue71) by the orange Ranger. ;D

Wow Jack, thanks so much for posting the '76 Explorer brochure!!!!! I have gotta find one of those now!

But I don't know if that is Andy or not..... he usually wore cut-off Jean shorts back in the day with his wife beaters! :)

There's a '76 explorer in WY on CL that has a manual trans. Don't know if it's original.

If you look hard, you can see interior panels in the rear in the Bronco pics. I have never seen these panels originally in a '76; nor, have I ever seen the tabs that are factory welded to attach them to, in a '76 Explorer. However. I like the panels to finish the interior......especially if the wheel wells are carpeted. Just my .02...........;)

It seems strange that Ford put out a brochure that showed a bronco with cut fenders and flares.

I noticed too that the Explorer glove box badge in the 1976 brochure (lower left-hand photo) is mounted to the right hand side of the glove box (like the Ranger's are mounted) and not centered under the glove box button? Any ideas?

1972 Explorer Sport video

I found this video while doing some research on Explorer packed Broncos. While according to this young man, this is an "all original" '72, the Durango Tan has been painted candy apple red on the exterior, but the interior is all original with a white dash, Explorer dash plaque, black dash pad (seems the '72s had black pads) and Special Ginger Random Stripped cloth inserts in the seats (front and rear). As noted in the sales brochures for '72 Explorer Broncos, it is a Sports package as well as being an Explorer. Wonder where it is now?

Yes, a snow plow was on this one (these were photos I found here on the site from another member who had looked at this one somewhere in the midwest I think):

My guess is instead of punching holes in two diff places, one for the Ranger and one for the Explorer, they just used what was left in the parts bind, they new this body style was on the out so no need in spending extra money on it.

I really like the Indian Blanket covers. This pattern looks a little diff than whats in the brochure, or does it just appear that way.

In scouring the site I have found tons more photos of Explorer packaged EBs and thought I could list them here as an archive thread of Explorer info:

Yes, now that I have an Explorer EB, I am a little obsessed with finding as much info as I can on them if you couldn't tell already! ;D
