Upgrading my 302v8 - need engine advice

I too run 4:11's but with 33's. Can cruise along the backroads in 5th at 45mph and still not be lugging. Of course the warmed over 351w with low end torque cam help :)

Sounds like a manual transmission. Generally a lot less overdrive that the automatics. The AOD is a really tall overdrive 0.667 which will give a set of 4.11 gears an effective ratio of 2.74, The 4R70W is a little less overdrive, an effective ratio of 2.88
Those are good choices for a car, not a tall tire (compared to a car) Bronco that has twice the drag going down the road.

if you are lugging the motor, you need to downshift, and slow down. I grew up with 45mph uphills.
