So Last July 4th we did one last beach trip with my Bronco before I did new motor and paint. We all know how much work is involved to do something like this, but it’s our passion that why we are here. I want to share one small thing that happened to me that reminds me it’s still a 45 year old truck.
I did a 347 and wanted to keep my Ford EFI. The 5.0 Explorer I replaced was awesome and trusted , had zero EFI issues since I did it harness by EFI guy, who we all know does a awesome job .
Since I was using my Explorer EFI with upgrades to support hp I needed a tune. I have a local tuner who wrote a base tune to break in the clutch and motor.
So yesterday was my day to take it to the tuner for final tuning.
All shined up, new rims and tires
I pull the truck out the garage and shut the driver door ...,,the F n thing don’t latch ! What the hell ? After all that work , tweaking checking double checking and the door does not latch. I take a deep breath grab a screwdriver and it’s good.
Had to share these old trucks gives you little reminders time to time

Since I’m here I will share the dyno
The good news is it didn’t blow up. He was impressed with the set up , said the tires kill the Hp , but said the torque was looked good makes it early and stays with it.

Sweet, I’m glad you didn’t chip any paint while fixing the door, because that would have happed to me, no matter how careful I was.
Great flat torque curve. Were you at 275 hp and 300 lbs of to at the rear wheels
What cam ? , in the thinking stages now for a motor like this

I would have to pull the specs on cam. It’s a Blue Print motor short block
And yes. Little chips here and there already, I just use a little touch up bottle

Man it looks great. My favorite wheels on a Bronco for looks. To be riding on July 4 and do all that work and then riding again in January is pretty good. Nice job.

I remember your truck when we were at the SC in Tennessee a couple years age. We had the cabin across the road from ya'll and I can say your Bronco has come a long way. It looked nice then but it really does shine now. Good job on it. Ken

Looks Great Tiko! Built right, those stroked small blocks can take a lot of abuse. My 347 builder took into account that I would be ripping down the Baja peninsula with it and told me "You'll be good holding it at 5500 rpms for an extended period, but don't get into the 7-7500 range a lot and it will last for years."

Cool Bulkin..,,
This whole thing made me nervous as hell. Every time he made a pull I would cringe, don’t get me wrong I love to see and hear a motor on a dyno but I have seen enough videos where S comes apart too . So I was held my breath and was thinking of every bolt I turned on.......7,000 Plus ! would scary the hell out of me. That’s bad ass

What's the gearing and tire size? They're right that the tires will kill power, even down to just slippage on the rollers. But a too-tall gear ratio will numb the numbers even further.
So while your engine might be making much higher numbers than showing on the graph, a lot of it goes out the window by the time the tires hit the rollers.

Great fun to get it checked and tuned!
In spite of the cringing involved!;);D

4:56. And 35s. I will do some driving and report speed and tach numbers ..., so far it feels good... I did have that gear and 33s and it seems too much

Hahahah
What the door ? My point is no matter how much work and prep something little pops up to remind you it’s a old truck. But that’s what we love about them

Exactly. At first I figured it would be something bad about the paint or motor, then it was EFI this and that, and the then the door. Classic broncos (literally)

Here's the deal. If it blew up on the dyno, it would have blown up on the street or trail. Better to have it happen there than in the middle of east bumf-k where ever.
