Those other trucks are good and they are simply another answer to the same problem in terms of offroading/dailyuse. Its a matter of what trips your trigger the most. Me being a Ford man my whole life i have realized why i like Ford more now than ever, and thats because they have made a vehical for every situation over the years and they are some of the best cars/trucks ever made. And the hop ups are endless! I could take the time to list these vehicals but i think yall get the point.

I too have always been a Ford guy when it comes to pickups and muscle cars (although I did stray to the Germans for my current daily driver). After researching Scouts some more this evening I have realized that the aftermarket and forum support just isn't there and the EBs have so much more potential. I will be staying with the Bronco as my dream.

Does anyone on this forum endorse non-Bronco classic 4x4's? The only that I have entertained are Scout II's (expensive parts) and FJ40's (expensive entry fee).

I only ask because I was considering taking a look at this rig: http://springfield.craigslist.org/cto/3534990616.html

I'm sure you'll find some... hey I'd rather have an EB, but it's all about you.. your decision..

I'd keep holding out ;)

Just be patient, you made the right choice by passing on the other 2. There are others to be had, just keep looking. I know this is prob more than what you are looking to spend but from what I can tell this rig is ready to drive and enjoy. You would have more than this in the other 2 you looked at just trying to get close this condition. I always look for one with the least amount of rust and body work that has been done, the mechanics are easier and cheaper to replace. I would say this guy will deal a little, if interested I can look at it for you, I work in this town.

Greatly appreciate the help, but she is definitely over my budget right now. I am looking to find something that I can start enjoying with a $5k budget and throw more money at it as I can. Would love to talk this guy down to around $5k: http://semo.craigslist.org/cto/3589345559.html

Or this rig at around $4k would probably be a good start for me: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/3604687742.html

Am I completely unrealistic?

Cash talks and it depends on how bad they need to sale, you will just need to look at them close and make a list of what you will want to add. Neither of those have pwr steering or pwr brakes that is ~ 2K right there, I know the Kansas one will have vacum wipers. Its just the little things you need to look at close and decide what you want because these are the things that add up quick.

Good point with the PS/PDB. I keep lying to myself that I would be happy with it for a while without PS/PDB, but in reality I would get a lot of gruff from the wife that would cause me to have to put the $2k worth of upgrades into it pretty quickly.

I can see where PS would come in handy for 33's PLUS, but even with 33's and lower I bet you can get away without PS just fine just get her rolling a bit before turning the wheel, at speeds I think the PS makes it harder to turn IMO.

I picked up my 75 for steal so they are out there. you just have to be patient and ALWAYS looking. I found my deal here on this forum.

Good luck, the hunt is the best part.

Brakes are definitely the bigger concern as I want to make sure the rig is safe for the wife to drive. Manual steering will just help keep her in shape :D

It looks like the Toms Brake Booster kit is mostly just a bolt on upgrade http://classicbroncos.com/toms_power_brakes.shtml ...is this a project a noob like me could take on?
