I have been really enjoying driving it. I have been tinkering with it and found the coolant crossover pipe has a pin hole in it. Anyone replaced one of these before? What's the PIA factor?

That is also a sign that when you do the swap, change all the core plugs in the block. They are only a little thicker than the tubing and are probably pretty crusty inside. So much easier to do while the engine is out and only a few bucks for a whole set.

Weather you want to do a preventative change of the timing cover...

I almost have it all torn down. So far I have only lost 2 half inch nuts.!!!!

Anything I should change while I have it torn down.?

Seems to be a lot of black soot in the plenum chamber

I always changed the timing gear set, new water pump, and new oil pump. Clean out the oil pan and it gives you an idea on how well the oil was changed...
As mentioned above, consider the freeze plugs, best time to change them is now.

Yes, it technically only moves air, so I tend to reuse them a time or two. I would start with a fresh one for now though

Ok....I ordered the part and this came in. I unscrewed mine from the manifold....this looks pretty damn close.....minus the threaded part that goes into the manifold

i had the same question not long ago . the bolt on the bracket is all that holds it in there. i guess the pressure isnt enough to blow it out

thats right. as long as it will come off. i had one set of pipes that the end of the pipe was flared so the "nut " would not come off. so i had to buy a new one and it just slid on over the o rings. it was a tight fit.

so yes as long as it isnt flared you will see once you remove it it will look like your new pipes.

You know it was just a week or two ago that someone brought up this same issue with the new pipe and extracting the fitting off the old coolant pipe....

Sorry I don't remember the tittle, but I will do a short search...

It is a thread sealant, not red loctite.

You can use teflon tape, thread sealer paste, etc. Make sure the threads are cleaned up some on both ends, and you can crack the aluminum on the lower intake if you get a little overzealous in screwing the fitting in the manifold...
