You’re never going to get to drive it are you? My 5 y.o. calls mine “her Bronco” and it’s in pieces.

looking good. man, I have so far to go on mine, I am so anxious to get it together and go cruising. I can imagine you are even more anxious. look forward to seeing your continued progress. firing the engine the first time is always a great milestone. I bought mine as a crate engine so I have never heard it run. so I have to live vicariously through others build threads. thanks for posting your progress, it gives people like me encouragement to keep going.

Yes I think the whole family is ready to be done with it. The oldest girl I promised that if we had it done she could drive it to school on the first day. It will be her senior year this year. The youngest told me the other day she just wants to be able to ride in it instead of working on it! LOL

Well got the Bestop installed and was trying to install the doors before I painted just in case I slip with a drill! Doors do not fit. See other thread on that. Old Kentrol body has the wrong door size openings. Top of opening is 31" and should be 32 1/8" Talking to my upholstery guy to see if I can cut down the Bestop door frames if he can put the cover back on them.

Well if you didn't see my other post about the Bestop 2 piece doors take heed if you have an older Kentrol body! My door openings were not the correct size. top of my opening was 31" and Spec was 32 1/8". Talked to a guy that upholsters near me and he said to not take a lot of the vinyl off the doors so it would be easier for him to re-do. Well after I got into it I could not effectively fix the bottoms to match my openings so I took the whole thing off. More $$ to fix them.
Well I the wife and I spent most of the day fitting the 2 doors. I don't think he can re-use the vinyl part since it is oversize and would probably be more of a pain to re do than to make new.

Well took the doors and top off so we could start the final sanding. I wet sand with 400 grit for my final prep. Nice and smooth and still enough tooth for the new paint. Had the whole family doing the sanding and we were done in a few hours. I found a couple of chips/imperfections that I had to address so I added some filler and then we went in the pool for the rest of the afternoon. Hope to get back to it later this week and next Sat paint Lord willing!

Some Shots of me painting today, Wow that was a lot of work. I have not painted an overall car in probably 20 years! Old body is not as agile as it used to be! Hope to have some finished shots tomorrow. I still am going to wet sand and buff so the finish will get even better!

Started with the long list of items to do. Paint was still too soft to start to wet sand and buff, but we put the shocks on. Added wiring for the upgraded headlights. Added front turn signals. Then after sweating so bad I was soaked thru I quit and went in the pool for some R&R.

No photos but I did my first drive in the Bronco this morning! What a feeling! I took it about 8 miles to my local guy that does my state inspection work. I am having him do a once over just to check my work. A second set of eyes on something you have lived/ eat and breathed for the last year and a half. To me makes good sense to let someone else just do a once over and front end alignment. Plus in PA we have to have an inspection station check brakes, lights etc over once a year.

Finally legal to drive in PA! Lots of small stuff to do but at least I can enjoy it some this summer before the weather gets cold. What a feeling driving it home from the inspection station! Mechanic was so enthused to get to work on it and told me when he took it for the test drive after front end alignment he said it was strait as an arrow at 60mph!

Congratulations and a happy experience! Wow, and they even test drive them too, huh?
Or did he make an exception in your case and "test drive" it for you because it's such a cool rig?;);D

Yes they have to test drive every car for the "PA Inspection" I could tell he was thrilled to drive it. I just got back from doing a small trip. We put about 15 miles on it this evening. Drives great! I feel so good just driving it! A bit sluggish higher end. I think my timing needs a bit of advancement. I will check that over the weekend.
