We'll need a Marti Report to determine that. It doesn't sound like a Sport.

What is the “Body” code on your glove box warranty plate?

It's 34, he reached out by messenger a week or so ago.

Should have mentioned not a special order either. 34 doesn't match his interior but the pics I saw look like it was original to the truck, parchment seats are easily swapped out though I guess. Hopefully millman will post up some pics :)

Thanks Bobby, At least we know it wasn’t originally a Ranger.... Time for a Marti report!

Yes that's about all I was able to tell him, some things pointed to Ranger/Explore and other things didn't lol.

Here's my contribution, a 1973 that I pulled out of a tobacco barn recently. Feel free to expand on this info and ask questions. And if you'd like to decode the vin for me I'd appreciate it.

302
C4
J Shift
Fuel Return
Light Bars
Driver Door Post Rubber Plug for Ambient Temp (w/holes)
Power Steering
Fuel Selector Switch is ~1 1/8" long (don't know the difference)

I'll add mine, titled 1972. P89681 , light bars, T-shift, power steering, 3 speed, build date 10/72. Not sure about ambient sensor, don't think fuel return.

Mine is P89670. It's a U152. Light bars. T shift. Manual steering. 3 speed. Ambient sensor. No fuel return. Dual tanks. DSO of 58 (Twin Cities). Color Z - light copper metallic.

EDIT: It didn't come with a title, but I'm going through the bonded title process and should be titled as a '72 when the process is done. Should it be a '73?

One digit light on the sequence number. Probably completed as a 73 with the light bars.

I don't think mine will help you any as it was produced March 8th, 1972. The last VIN numbers are N71936. It's a 1972 Explorer Sport.

Nah, but any time we get to see a '72 Explorer Sport it's still cool!
Is there a thread about it so we don't clutter this one up with pics?

No thread yet and you would be disappointed in any pictures. It's currently all taken apart and spread all over the place outside, inside, garage and a bunch of boxes. :p
