VIN # U15GLC88392

WB 092 Color S Type/GVW U152
Body RV Trans G Axle 18J
Max GVWR lbs 4900. 1976 DSO 47

I know some of what this means but I don’t know what the Body code RV means. I can’t find a 47 DSO. Big one I’m confused on is the axle code of 18J. From what I can find J indicates power steering. The axle code of 18 means what ? In 1976 from what I have read they came with the Ford 9 inch with Heavy-duty housing, large bearing housing ends with 1/2-inch bolts in the rear and the front had a Dana 44.
I thought the axle code 18 is usually associated with a small bearing housing ?

RV is parchment vinyl front buckets, 18J is large bearing 9" rear 3.50 open gears, open Dana 44 in the front. 47 DSO is Cincinnati

Correct on the 18 usually being small bearing but that was only up to 76'. All 76' and 77' came with large bearing 9" rears.

Thank you very much.
It has extra trim on the body sides not on all models so wasn’t sure if it was an explorer package or something.
The J is power steering is that correct ?
The 76 and 77 were 31 spline is that correct ?
Based on the information given a 76 should be disc brake front end ?

Nope, 28 spline on both years unless PO swapped them in. J is power steering and I think both 76 and 77 were stock power steering.

Yes sorry forgot about the J, yes power steering. All 66-77 were 28 spline whether small bearing, medium duty or large bearing. All 76 and 77 had disk brakes, power brakes were still optional though.

It would have a different trim code if it was an Explorer

Thank you all for the info I appreciate it.
What was the biggest difference in the U150, U151 and U152 ?
Ive seen these have to do with gvwr like the U152 means it was 4900 lb gvwr
I’ve not had anyone explain what Ford did different between these 3 to differentiate between them other than the numbers they have on the vin tag.
