VACUUM GUAGES READINGS Don't look Right .72 Bronco 302

I purchased a Vacuum guage from Harbor Freight and get these readings on 72 Bronco 302. I connected the guage with a tee near the Vacuum advance. At Idle I get about 14, during accleration about 7 and after it never gets above 17. I changed the timing and it affects the readings very little. Have new wires, dis cap, points, plugs, rotor, and the vacuum hoses are new. It starts and runs okay but only about 60 mph. Are these readings something I should be concerned with?

Try hooking the vacuum line up to direct manifold vacuum, not from the carb, you are probably not getting full vacuum to the gauge. But if it will only go 60 then something else is wrong.

I’ve found little squirts of starter fluid will tell you where there’s a leak (RPM rise). I don’t do it on a hot engine, and stay away from exhaust manifild and headers!

Thanks for the advise on hooking up the Vacuum Guage to the Manifold vacuum. Now I have readings of 0 and 22 during and after accleration then resting at the 19. I think the 60 mph was related to my foot pedal sticking.

Now its reading right, great news! Maybe time for a loker cable throttle? Full throttle makes a big difference ;)
