OK, so, I have some rust. And I need to replace the following from what I can see: RT and LT kick panels, door posts, driver and passenger floor pans up to firewall, front cross member under floor pans, and some steel that supports the fenders. I have read a lot of threads, JAFO you inspire me, and I'm not sure if what I'm planning is going to work. Please let me know if you have any ideas, or pictures for bracing.
I have to work outside, and it is uneven ground. SO, the plan is to take an "A" frame or gantry, tie it into the frame on left and rt side going below the body and connecting at the support for the body mounts under the driver and passenger floor pans. Then from above, tie into to the overhead gantry to support the dash and cowel so that when I take the post off, I won't have buckling. Does this make sense?
The chassis will be blocked in place, the frame is already done and powder coated. If I make the overhead attachment with steel and go thru the empty front windshield, I should be able to have the hood on, top on, mount the doors and then just replace one side at a time, keeping alignment. I can eve make more supports off of the connection below to support the front clip.
It seems to me to make more sense to repace the floor panels, then go after the the kick panels, and finally the front door posts.
I know, measure everything, take lots of pictures, measure again, etc. One thing for sure, it's going to be exciting.
