I bought a 3 way adjustable tie rod set for my '76 and was installing last night. I realized if forget to order the earlier pitman arm with the larger hole when I tried to connect the drag link. I have a tapered reamer so I reamed the 76 pitman arm about a 1/4" deeper and installed the tie rods. Having second thoughts about doing this now and wondering if I should just order the correct pitman arm. I don't want to have any safety issues by having removed too much material from the stock pitman arm. Thoughts?

Should not be any issue as long as it fits correctly in the tie rod. I dont think either has any more or less material on the small end.

if you already have the proper reamer, go slow, use cutting oil and double check tapered pin depth often. When reamers bite and dig in they really get going.. easy to over ream ask me how i know..

If you still have to order a reamer, just order the correct arm and be done with it.

It's been a while but the few adjustable drag links I've ordered only fit the larger hole pitman. The first one I ordered was from Pete at bronco parts for the 66. He traded methe correct pitman arm for mine.
