I was thinking about swapping out my old Motorcraft 2150 2-barrel Carb w/ a New 2-barrel carb. i think it's pretty worn out. I will be going w/ a Manual choke, if that matters. What will give me the most bang for my buck, and more hassle free as I am not a big gearhead.

I threw a 2 barrel Holley 350 CFM on mine when I rebuilt the motor. Have't had a problem since I put it in 2 and a half years ago. It has the manual choke.

Holley 350 CFM on a bone stock 76 with a manual choke for me.

Runs great and decent gas milege. All you really have to set is the idle. I made small adjustments on mine, but it'll last forever and works great.

I love Holleys, and I've got a 2300 2v on mine. but you could always rebuild the one you've got, as it is also a very good, problem free carb.

Ditto on the rebuild its very easy and you can get a kit to change it over to manual choke. The Motorcraft is a little better choice than the holley but if you want to spend the $$

Well, from what I read, my 2150 is suppose to be a very reliable carb, so maybe I will do a rebuild on it. I am still wondering about the advantages, disadvantages of the Manual vs. Electric choke though. It has a built in electric choke, that is not hooked up. I was told that the Stator terminal on the Alternator is the factory hook up for it. I just dont know which wire on the back of my alternator is the stator. I have a Red, Blue, and smaller Orange wire/boot on the backside of the alternator, which is the Stator? I beleive it is an old stock alternator, If I decide to go electric...decisions, decisions...?????

the stator may be the stock spot, but I've found that any 12v "ignition hot" wire works.

As I said before, with a manual its one less chance for a problem. In my mind anytime I can lessen the potential for electrical problems, I will do it.

Plus, with my electric choke exoerience, I never saw the electric choke to be completely off. I know it probably was most of the time, but I hated the thought of wasting gas even if it was just a bit on.

The stator wire for the choke is usually white/black most stock alternators are marked the one sitting on my shelf is marked STA and has a black plastic insultator on the case.

The best two barrels are the primaries on a four barrel, better for gas mileage and power when you need it. I have an Edelbrock 500 CFM with manual choke that I have been very happy with.

a new and or rebuilt 2150 motor craft is the best carb for rockcrawling. depending on how you use your rig this carb is hard to beat. as far as i am concerned this is the only carb to use.
