just installed a new carb on engine,
old carb wasnt working and engine woudnt start
new carb is same as old one, sent to me free by holley
holley off road truck avenger.
i plopped it on engine block and connected it up just like the old carb.

engine starts now, great! but it idles super fast, like its about ready to jump out of the truck..

just wondering what tweeks i can do to reduce idle speed.

instruction manual mentions a fast idle speed screw, but i cant seem to find it..

any suggestions are welcome.

thanks!

Hi, first learn about the adjustments on your holley carb. You can start it and hold the choke open by hand. This will get it off fast idle. A vacuum leak or forgotten vacuum plug is a very common cause for a high and uncontrollable idle. Good luck

I had that issue once and my issue turned out to be that the jets were too big and had to re-jet to smaller ones. Symptom was that mine idled way high and non of the adjustments seemed to make any difference.
