How to run exhaust when you have an np205 transfer case

I’m planning on installing a 4r70 and an np205 transfer case. What headers are you guys using with this setup and how are you running your exhaust. Also I have a stroked out dart 302 block with afr heads if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I run a 4R70W and had to cut and re-orient the collector (Hedman ball type collector flange). Then I ran the exhaust back to the rear of the transmission and then took driver's side and ran it in the space between the 4R70W and NP205 over to the pass side. Joined at a Y then ran single muffler out the back down the passenger side.

When I re-do it I am going to run dual pipes down the passenger side.

This is all 2 1/2 pipe.

I'm running a ZF + NP205 set up w/ dual exhaust. I ended up going under the driver frame rail and fabbed a skid plate to protect it. I already had some 4x4 angle iron bolted to the frame on each side, one to protect the fuel pump on pass side and the other to protect my OBA on driver side, so all I had to do was tie the skid plate onto them. I've since relocated my fuel pump closer to the tank.

Kind of a crappy fab job, but it gets the job done and protects the NP205 as well. Tied in some bracing to stiffen it up and the front ties to the BCB crossmember to toughen it. If I re-do the exhaust to a 2 into 1 setup, I'll probably run it just in front of the BCB crossmember and make another plate or use some square tubing to protect it there. Forgot to mention I also have Headman long tubes w/ ball type collector flanges.

Good luck! B2

I also have the 4R70W and NP205. Wild Horses shorties that collector was cut and rewelded and routed exhaust over the frame similar to Craig and dumps in front of the tires...

JBA shorties/4r70w/KluneV/205.
3" from modified collecters over frame and mufflers under seat floors -pass side raised,dr side lowered - both 2". Bottom of mufflers are above the bottom of frame rails for much needed clearance, 2 1/2" pipes out the rear to help quiet the stroker down.

Pics on my 4link,ORI build thread... I will try to update with where the exhaust pics are

Just shows another way of doing it, very similar to Craig's it looks like.

Shorties give you more options to run the exhaust but full length make more torque every time. If going inside the frame then long tubes for sure they dump along side the bell housing.
