Found the bracket in a box from the PO and now state requires me to run front plate. Not sure how/ where front plate mounts to/on front bumper or frame. Any help. Pics or diagrams out there to help. Thanks

It mounts in the center of the bumper. Your bumper should have two holes in the bottom.

What he said, however there are also two holes on the drivers side of the lower part of the grill. I always thought they were a license plate mount spot also

You’re right tater.... I don’t know that there was ever a bracket for the grill mount, just holes. The bumper bracket might work there if you bolted it from the front thru the tag holes. Never tried that....

There are slots in the grille under each of the holes. Slide a flat nut up into each slot and the plate bolts to the nuts.

I drilled two holes in the bumper because I didn't want mine on the grill.

It’s really odd the way those slots are made. You would really have to pry them open and do a lot of damage to get enough space to slide a nut up in mine. That slot looks like it was designed for some sort of clip to slide up in which would serve as a nut...

Neither one of my grills have slots under the holes for a nut.

frenchy

Same here Frenchy. The slot on mine is not big enough for a nut. I don’t think the bracket was intended for use on the grill.

Regarding the bumper holes and brackets. They are clearly visible in Ford sales brochures and came from Ford. I have never owned a Bronco, with a chrome bumper, that did not have the holes in the bottom for the tag bracket. I don’t remember if painted bumpers had them....

I have the bracket but at the same time havent decided to use it or the grill locations. I've always thought that the grill holes used a U-clip sort of fastener and not a nut.

PO before me... drilled a couple of holes underneath the stock bumper, put in an angled piece of metal.

That’s better than the stock bracket. I think I see the edge of one of the original square cut bracket holes partially exposed in the left of that first picture...

Bracket

Made this bracket to hold the license plate flat and not to twist

I didn’t realize there was a bumper mount option, but wouldn’t have mattered since I built mine from scratch. I used the holes in the grill. The little u-tab flat nuts are available at Autozone I believe. I didn’t like the way the plate rubbed in the grill, so I wrapped the edge of the plate with a piece of the vinyl u-channel door edge protector material.

use a pair of body clips like that are used to hold the fenders to the inner front clip. Hold that up behind the grill till bolts are started and then it holds itself from spinning. im sure that slot under the stock holes are for the clip to just slide into but i put it all behind.
