The wild horses info says clearly the kit is for 4wd transmissions not 2wd transmissions. I would think if you are trying to use a 2wd transmission, then a tailshaft change will be necessary.

That is the kit I used and yes it is as simple as that, BUT mine was a 4x4 transmission. I would make a couple phone calls to see if it works on the 2wd unit.
I think you need kit #8330 for a 2wd.

Id agree that kit is for a 4wd tranny. A 2wd tranny requires a different kit and transmission disassembly to install the output shaft.

2WD transmission requires complete tear down to change the output shaft. And while it is torn apart it is a good time to look at refreshing the seals, bushings, frictions.
