    Pertronix ignitor electronic ignition

I have the ignition plus their coil in my '66 170 six , it works fine. Did have to adjust the timing per their instructions.

    DIY paint job preparation

All My question is for paint prep whether to completely strip to metal or just sand smooth the existing paint ? The Bronco is a daily driver so it doesn’t have to be Pebble Beach quality. I’m fixing a few dents all over and it likely has one repaint by PO, but it’s not the factory color so...

    170/200 exhaust manifold question

Also, the header pipe was 1.75” diameter on early 170, 2.00” on 200 and I think later 170’s. Tony

NY Wanted Driver’s Side Rear Door Post

Looking for a driver’s side rear door post for my ‘66 Bronco. As long as the center where the door strike is has good metal that’s good- I want to graft good metal in that area from another post rather than replace the entire post. Thanks Tony

    Stock Height C Bushings

Just received a new set of C bushings for stock height (from WH #1306) and I noticed all 4 are identical, no markings. All instructions I have seen so mention the correct orientation of the bushings as indicated on the inside markings. Are all supposed to be the same for stock height? Also...

New Radiator for ‘66 170 Transmission Line Thread Size

Thanks, WH rep said that they need to be plugged if you have a manual- don’t know why they don’t provide them since 6 cylinder Bronco’s with an automatic are rare if any.

New Radiator for ‘66 170 Transmission Line Thread Size

Just received a new radiator from WH for my 170 six. Nice unit but there’s 2 holes for automatic transmission lines on the bottom that I need to plug (not included). WH couldn’t tell me the bolt and thread size, is it 1/8 NPT ? Thanks Tony

Question Steering Stabilizer Bracket mounting 66 Bronco

Thanks Spaggy, it looks like the approximate location on the WH instructions. The exact placement I’m determining is where the stabilizer expands and returns so the wheels can be fully turned left or right.

Question Steering Stabilizer Bracket mounting 66 Bronco

If the bracket is on the passenger side it kinda looks like the diagram WH has in its instructions. The PO had a bracket welded to the frame driver side under the traction bar, so the steering stabilizer went in the other direction - attached to passenger side of the drag link. The hydraulic...

Question Steering Stabilizer Bracket mounting 66 Bronco

I have a steering stabilizer bracket from WH that I’m trying to mount. The instructions say that on the cross member there’s normally two holes located close to the passenger side. The only hole in the cross member near there on my 66 is on the part that spanks up, no holes on the horizontal...

Oil plug hole stripped- retap or Helicoil ?

Thanks for the advice on self -tapping because it seems like that's what it had on it already. It does go on tight but it had an aluminum crush washer which maybe has to be changed or perhaps I'll try and find a nylon washer which I see goes with many self-tapping plugs.

Oil plug hole stripped- retap or Helicoil ?

Finally found out why there has always been a drip by the oil drain plug on my 66 six cylinder, the PO stripped the threads - they used a tapered plug bolt as a temp fix. Bought a new stock Ford 1/2" size plug, this just spins, so my choice would either retap the pan using a larger 9/16 (18...

66 Bronco Steering Wobble & Drifting

So the new tires are Nokian 235/75R15 109TXL, I use the same on my 2010 Ranger and they are very good road tires, I set them at 35 psi. I also mounted them on recently purchased Indy mag wheels. The alignment report says that it was set to Chilton specs: Caster range 2 3/4 - 4 1/4 preferred 3...

66 Bronco Steering Wobble & Drifting

Yes, tire pressure was one of the first things- they are also brand new. I just did a quick test of the axel center measuring the distance from the outer wheel edge to the fender using an upright level board. There’s about 3/4” difference between left and right wheel. You can even see it...

66 Bronco Steering Wobble & Drifting

I installed new tie rods and drag link on my 66, but I am still getting some drifting and wobble when I hit bumps and uneven road. I brought it to a local repair shop (they are really not Bronco guys) and they did an alignment which is spot on - I gave them alignment specs from my Chilton's...

    1966 Front Center Hose?

Just replaced mine. Went to NAPA with the old one. They found the rubber hose with two female ends part # 36599, then two 8" metal line with male threads on each end part # 8135610. Bend to fit with the proper tool. Total parts cost about $38. Tony

    Grinding going into reverse

Yes. I had the same problem, in addition shifting from 1 - 2 was difficult. Getting new rubber bushings at both ends of the shift rods (shift column and transmission) and proper adjustment solved the problem. The shift rod adjustment procedure is found on this forum and it worked great - I can't...

    Removing 1966 Dana 30 front carrier/differential

I need to replace inner and outer seals on my Dana 30, Bronco is leaking on the front left side. I've seen a lot of info on removing everything up to the axels, however the only info I can find on dropping the differential (carrier) is regarding a Jeep https://youtu.be/5DijgyyqZb0, from this...
