I spotted this in the Classic.com Bronco market report. Stated as not sold with the high bid being around $25k (asking $75k).

How much benefit is there in running a 170 with "dual Stromberg carburetors" and is the benefit enough to cut a hole through -- what looks to be -- an original 66 hood?

To each his own. :)

The single small hole carb pad and cast in log intake are not going to see any real benifit. There might be a little top end improvment, in the RPM band the 170 isn't happy being in.

Personally, the modifications didn't add any value. And probably hurt the value. Incorrect use of speed parts.
But they did get rid of the load-o-matic ignition system. It might actually run a little better than stock. But a far cry from what running good should actually feel like. A stock tired 289 would still run better.

Yeah, I wouldn’t put a hole in my hood for that. What a waste.

Agree with all the comments. But it is still pretty cool!
Not "cool" as in, it's worth more money for it. But "cool" in a retro sort of way with people doing what they want with their stuff.

I think $25 was reflecting that, but not really far out of line for even that rig without the hole and the carbs sticking out of it. The $75k is way too high of an asking price even in today's (or last month's) market.
It's clean though, so someone could pick it up for under $30 grand and then sell the carbs to someone and fix the hood.

With all the ludicrous prices people are getting for them these days though, you can't blame the guy for trying. And hoping...

Based on the hefty mirrors, I'd like to think that this was a work truck and they did these things to make it more usable. If they did it for looks, this was an epic fail.
