Stock steel wheels in 7" wide

Was looking for some stock steelies in 7" wide. All I can find are 6" wide. Did they do a 7"'wide?

I'm not sure if a 10.5" tires should go on a 6"'wide rim.

My current rims are 5.5" stock. Too narrow for 10.5".

Anyone know what the back spacing was on the stock ford steel wheels in 6" wide?

Ford EB wheels were either 15X5.5 or 16X5 and then only steel. Later years offered other wheels but not for '66-'77.

There's probably something out there, but I wouldn't know what it came off of or what to look for, other than just "something steel" from one of the custom wheel companies.
Hmm, now that I think about it, 904Bronco here got some from Jegs or Summit and I'm pretty sure they were 7's.

And yes, a 10.5" wide tire is fine on a 6" wide wheel. That's about the max I'd do, but frankly, for just a 1/2" difference, if I had 5.5" wide wheels I'd still mount the tires.
Many shops might not do it of course, being out of the typical "manufacturer's recommended rim width" specifications, but it's not without precedence.
We used to consider approximately 4" wider than the wheel, a reasonable maximum for tire/wheel combos. I know that a 10.5 inch wide tire is just a smidge more than 4" wider, but that was also "close enough" for normal use back when.
Very common to see 11.5" wide tires on 7, 8, 8.5, 9 and 10 inch wide wheels.

I've run 11.50 tires on 7 inch wheels for about 30 years.

X2 on those summit rims.

But you need to educate urself on stock style rims. First thing is to look make sure the rims hub hole is big enough to fit the front axle hub. I used to know the exact diameter but not anymore. Good luck finding 15x7s, they are out there but people are holding on to them. I searched for almost a year and ended up settling for five 15x6s. Stock style rims can be found on dodge trucks and vans, jeeps, as well as ford trucks and vans. Some rims will have their size stamped into the rim as well. Not only do you need to chk for the diameter of the hub, double chk for straightness. I have one that is kinda bad but serves as the spare. Good luck searching!

Since you are putting this on a LUBR don't forget to make sure the backspacing is correct.

I have the 15x7" Wheel Vintiques painted Argent Gray and will have 31/10.50s mounted to them. (Going on 76 LUBR) Look just like the originals.

With the 4" offset however, the stock hubcap will stick out too far and you would have to reach in to turn the manual hub. 66 Hub Caps are a perfect fit. Center Cap and rings will work fine. The wheels look great with no cap at all, I think.

You will need a 1/4" spacer if mounted to a 76-77. Good on rest, other than possibly knocking off tape balance weights with Disc up front.

I got mine at Summit. Wheel finish says bare, but they are primed.

A guy is supposed to be calling me this week about someone he knows that might have a set........I used to have Ford rims out the *** before I got an EB........they're gone since I had no use. I don't expect to get these---another guy had a set at a shop that I wanted to buy and they had been sitting for there for years....soon as my guy calls up "Oh yeah I been meaning to pick those up...will be right over"

Thanks for the post since it reminds me I better be looking at Summit just in case

I installed the Toms Disk brake kit recently. Would I still need the 1/4" spacer up front?

Thanks.

1/4" is needed for sure with the 76-77 knuckles for steering linkage clearance on the inside edge of the wheel.

1 - 15x7" wheel with 4" BS and 66 Hub Cap

2 - Wheel with primer fresh out of box

3 - Wheel mounted with 1/4" spacer and 76-77 Front Axle. Possibly not needed for your 74.

4 - Mounted with Stock Bronco Hub Cap - Too deep

The wheel diameter will determine if the wheel weight gets rubbed off by the front disk as with any 15" wheel. Still hit or miss.

I would also check with Toms to see if their Disc kit is compatible with a 15" Wheel.

I have the 15x7" Wheel Vintiques painted Wimbledon white, 4" backspacing, mounted on a 74 D44 with GM disc brake conversion and a 77 EB rear end on my 68 EB.

I have been very pleased with the results, no spacers used. 10.50 x 31

Instead of trying to find the Hen's Tooth of wheels, why not open up the tool cabinet and take out the sawzall Muskrat? I hear those saws are dime-a-dozen and easily cut through fender material to make room for any size tire/wheel combo out there.

I mean, you only have such a choice example of a LUBR, even with those rare wheels your Rausch Creek offroad prowess will be limited. In fact, I think my schedule is open tonight, I could bring my saw up and we could make room. Spend a fortune on wheels, or pocket the money, run what ya got, and shake off those LUBR blues.

Can someone tell me the front hub diameter on a 73---think its 3 1/8" ---stock wheels have 31/2" opening so the ones I have should fit fine---can't get to my vehicle right now and would appreciate the info--TIA, Dave

EDIT---FOUND IT---3 and 1/2" HOLE SHOULD BE JUST FINE

I think they are desirable. Typically worth as much as $25 each in that condition. I wouldn't scrap them. The trucks used that same wheel so there is a pretty crowd out there for them.
