Just to update this thread since it is a little behind.... We have been playing with the '72 know as 'Rattler'. Rattler had what I thought was a little worn out 302 that had low oil pressure and rattling lifters. It has a top loader four speed so it was still fun to drive even though the engine was ticky ticky... After driving in around for a while, I realized the engine might not be as sick as it sounds because it ran ok and it didn't use oil.

I became suspicious that the engine may have been over revved and it might have some bent pushrods, so off came the valve covers and out with the pushrods. They were all straight, but they were shorter than the shortest 302 pushrods, so I don't know what they were out of.....About .060" too short. A new set of pushrods and the oil pressure came back and the ticking left and the engine ran so much better!

We have added a vintage warn bumper and winch (from a member on here), some new/old wheels and tires from another Bronco that is 'waiting in the wings', a tach so maybe we don't twist it too hard, new 2150 2 barrel, a Shelton exhaust (This was the test mule for his systems), new suspension, disc brake front, a new door on the passenger side (I destroyed the original on a tree!!!!), and an old school tire cover!

This is a fun little Bronco!

The transmission is a WR top loader from a '66 Mustang.

The local police chief told me I needed to paint the drivers door black and he had some police decals he would give me along with a old light bar!

Hey Todd...thanks. The cover is a recreation; I don't think John Karp ever had a tire cover. I think he was more concerned with 'go-fast-goodies'!

I will second the cool tire cover. If these are being recreated, I want one! Source? I was fortunate to visit the shop in the 90's before it closed up.

wagon project

I haven't read through all of this thread but this is what I am working on in the shop. I am dropping a 53 wagon with a rusted out floor onto a 91 Caprice. The ONLY reason I went to the Caprice was because the wheelbase is a match. I have a long, long way to go to what will be classified as a rat rod because no cosmetics on this one.

How is your shifter mounted for the toploader 4 speed? All of the ones I've seen mount in the same spot as the floor shifter for the 3 speed. Yours seems to be mounted closer to the transmission.

Is the turbo going to clear the A/C box? Show us a better picture of that 70's Ford with the 6bt.

Aftermarket manifold to clear OEM box- pics when it is done :)

Quick overview: looked for nearly a year to find a 4x4 2or350 77-9- struck out-either ragged out, rusted out or a small fortune- so, bought a straight one owner, nearly rust free 2wd- donated my last HP front 60 and started mods from there.
NV4500, 205 twin stick, traditional mods to the 12valve
