Need Help with Steering Column

Newby replacing steering wheel, routing the horn wires up into the wheel (the PO has the horn switch on the dash, which doesn't help much in an emergency), and giving the turn signal wiring a once over. Any idea on how to get this piece off of the steering column? It doesn't want to pry off easily and I don't want to force anything if not needed...

I think you need a puller. Make sure there is not a tiny wire ring around the column mainshaft by the splines.

I use a harmonic balancer puller. You'll need to get the correct bolts and washers from the hardware store to screw into the adapter.

that's what I was thinking, especially after watching a couple of you-tube vids. It's hard for me to tell if that's a ring, it does kind of look like it is on top of the hub....
