X a million I just used the same clip made my swap a 5 min job!

The only problem with that clip is that it's all done outside the Bronco. I have a 1970 with the key switch way up on the top half of the dash. I can't figure a way to get my arm all the way up there and apply the needed pressure to push in and twist the back half of the switch. I can barely get a couple of finger tips touching the switch, let alone grasp it, push and twist.

Is it common that once the switch is out, put it back into a lower hole for future convenience?

No the hole is indexed for the ignition bezel. Just lay on your back with your right shoulder by the brake and go for it.

Being right handed, I removed the passenger seat so that I could reach the ignition switch with my right hand.
