doing a 351w efi motor but will run a carb untill i get the nerve to do the efi swap. i read somewhere that I will need to have a different flywheel/balancer to run a carb? Is this correct? Will my flex plate work off my 302?

Balance has nothing to do with EFI or carb. It has to do with the way the crankshaft was made. 351W motors have always had a 28 oz-in balance. All 302 motors had a 28 oz-in balance until '81 when it was changed to 50 oz-in.

So your 302 flexplate will work IF the 302 made before '81.

Wrong info. As stated above, year of 302 is the only factor in the change of engine balance weights.

Pre '81 302 and all 351 are the same.
