Should be a 60A. That was stock. Funny part, the case is marked as the low output version regardless of the actual output.

The more the better.I saw a 90 amp on Advance's site just today listed for my 67.

That would be exceeding the limits of the stock charging wiring. 47 year old stock wiring would probably instantly catch on fire.

Stock was supposed to be 38 amps. There was a 55amp option with the HD package.
A lot of times rebuilt ones will be higher than stock all depends on what stator was in the rebuilt one.

Regardless of what alt you install, the gauge won't be very accurate or reliable. And even with a 38A, the dash wiring could still catch fire, even if you don't try to pull that much current through it.

The best, safest, most-useable fix is to delete the stock ammeter, wire in a voltmeter (VERY easy & inexpensive), and install a good used 130A 3G with some fresh battery wiring. Click these & read their captions:
