6th Annual MEB Wrench & Roast – August 3rd 2013

This year we received three project nominations. After careful review, Chris Woolard's Bronco was selected for this years Wrench & Roast.
Chris has been a member of MEB for last five years and has attended the past four Bronco Roundups as well as many other MEB events, including some Rausch Creek trips. Chris also participated in the 2011 Wrench & Roast. Chris's Bronco is a 1973 based model and issued mostly for trail but does see the street on occasion. His truck has been out of commission since the 2012 Bronco Roundup due to engine issues, in Chris's words, "engine is now toast".

Please consider making the time to come out and assist Chris with getting his Bronco back on the trail. This years Wrench & Roast will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at AJ Portmanns shop located in Dillsburg, Pa. This is also the same weekend as the Carlisle All Truck Nationals in Carlisle, Pa, which is only 20 minutes away. Think of making this a long weekend event. The shop will be available for use from Thursday evening through Sunday around noon. Folks have the liberty of assisting a fellow member throughout the weekend with Saturday being the main day of the Wrench & Roast event and enjoying the Carlisle show on Friday and Sunday if you so choose.

Camping will be available on the property (tent or RV) for those participating in the Wrench & Roast event. Anyone looking to camp at the property please let me know which day you plan to arrive, how long you plan to stay and any specific needs (water or electric hook-ups).
Proposed Build
Engine swap (1997 5.8L) with a new clutch/fly wheel
EFI conversion
New front and rear bumpers
Upper rear quarter panel protection
New chassis wiring harness with new dash/gauges
203-205transfer case doubler

The Fahey clan (2 adults and 3 kids) will be there as well. I haven't missed one yet either! How could I, as the first one to receive all the skilled wrenching on my Bronco. WOW 6 years have flown by.
We'll be camping at the state park. I hope to arrive Friday early afternoon and stay till Sunday AM. Lisa said she will help with food.

I'm also looking forward to this event.

With any luck I will be bringing both myself and a working and running Bronco!

If you plan on attending the Wrench and Roast please send an email to AJ and Steph at ajportmann@yahoo.com or stephportmann@yahoo.com to let them know how many people will be there for the event, how long you will be there and if you are staying onsite or locally. We will need this information to plan for food needs.

Thanks,
Chris Jones

I will be there (obviously, with my truck) and plan to stay in my tent in AJ's back yard.

I am very excited to see everyone there!

We got some prep work done and will be back at it tomorrow as well. Hell, by Saturday, we might have it all done and the rest the crew that shows up will just have to help up eat all the pulled pork, ribs and sides we're having to eat!;D

Except for Randy and Steve, we are not touching the wiring, so at least we can watch them work while we lounge, eat and have a few beers!;)

If anyone who is coming has a manual that shows a detailed breakdown of disassembly of a NP203, please bring it. None of us are that familiar with them and even though I think we have scratched the swap of the current 205 for the 203/205 doubler for this weekend (due to come unforeseen issues with removing extensive welded in cross members and other confounding issues), we would still like to install the new input shaft into the 203 so it will mate up to his NP435 transmission.

Main items are:
F&R Bumpers
Engine swap and install EFI
EFI wiring harness
Chassis/Body wiring harness
Install upper quarter panel protection
