1966 Bronco with 170 motor.

Picture one is a old pic showing an old junction box. with 2 wires attached.
Best i can tell it has the alternator BAT cable and the main black wire from the harness.

Picture 2 is my project recreating the same wiring as picture 1.

Would it hurt to put both junctioned wires on the starter relay positive side?
if it would cause problems - what gauge wire would i need to make a jumper from relay to junction?

Thanks.

Ray

That's an original early '66 wiring component that really isn't completely necessary but if originality means anything to you, I would keep it . It's just a insulated block where two ring terminals connect. It seemed to go away in January / February of '66.

No winch connection, just one of Ford's bright ideas. The same block is found on other mid-60's ford products...

OK, that's one 66 only item I hadn't heard of before! It must have been deleted by a PO before I bought my Oct. build 66, in 1980.

A lot of them were probably tossed. But I think there are plenty still around.
We had a discussion about it last year. It was pretty in-depth. I think Viperwolf1 even put together an early 66 only wiring diagram showing it.
And some of the odd wires and colors that were around then.

This may be the thread DirtDonk referred to,
and I think it is the one you got the photo from in your first post.

I have added these to project vehicles in the past. Where too much stuff is trying to be crammed onto the starter post and I am not going to subject any of those wires to the battery post where they corrode and become a total pain when it comes time to deal with the battery posts.

Thanks all!

I think the answer is in the "1966 alternator wiring issue" link Oldtimer remembered.
That is one heck of a deep dive into the issue.

Much appreciated,
