Exhaust cost?

I just finished my nv3550 swap and drove it around the block with open headers which was incredibly entertaining for 5-10 min... but now I'm going to have to start shopping around for someone to build me a custom exhaust. I would like to have a true dual that dumps out behind the back tires. I don't want any fancy tips and will probably go with Flowmaster super 44's. What should I expect to pay these days? And 2nd can anyone in the Charlotte NC area recommend any good exhaust shops to do the work?
Also... any pics of how you routed yours around a advanced adaptors crossmember would be nice as well!!!

A custom exhaust is the only way it's going to fit everywhere just right. I was fortunate enough to run into a low-rider shop that did good work.
Make sure they give the transfer case enough clearance where the drain plug is. I've seen some that had to disconnect the exhaust to get that plug out.

Based on what I remember about a thread just the other day (or week?) you can expect to pay between $300 and $600 bucks or so. Even more in some areas and if they supply the mufflers.

It's all over the place. You'll just have to make a couple of calls most likely. Especially if someone chimes in with a local recommendation.

Good luck. Nothing like the sound of a nice exhaust.
Oh, and you've been here long enough to have read all about the different exhausts a lot of us use, right? Most are going away from the duals and back to either singles, or a dual setup down the passenger side. Maybe not "most" by much, but plenty of us at least.
Just wanted to make sure you know all the pitfalls of duals before you committed.

Have fun!

sweet thunder

I used a bolt on kit from sweet thunder out of Cadillac Michigan. True dual, dumps out the back and sounds great! Call Ryan he'll hook ya up!

But then exhaust systems are probably only second to color for being a personal taste.
My favorite tone is duals through 2" pipes and cheap turbo mufflers. They may not last long, but they have that great raspy "Bullitt" tone.

Have fun!

What's the joy in duals if they are both on one side? The separation is what makes duals sound so great.

The main pitfall for an exhaust pipe on the driver side is it the fuel line. It's a simple two hour job to put a new fuel line on the outside of the frame rail for protection from heat.

I had a 71 charger w/ straight headers in high school and loved to fire that thing up before I put the exhaust on it

It's always fun to drive around for awhile with just Headers before heading to the exhaust shop.

$250.00 for 2-into-1 exhaust with 2 1/2' pipes to muffler and 3" out to stock location. I already had my muffler with me.

44's will drone at highway speeds.
Drone in an eb can be pretty bad.
Forgive me if I am insulting your intelligence.

The Delta Flow model 40 sounds great but has reduced interior drone. The actual performance is increased. The additional delta chamber chevron produced more vacuum than a regular Flowmaster 40. This increase vacuum translates to increased flow. This increase vacuum also stops the drone. More power less drone, perfect. I should have gone with Delta 40's. My Delta 50's are way too quiet for my tastes, but they definitely do not drone. I bet Delta 40's would have been perfect. By the way they are a little longer.
