Getting back in a groove.

Here are some random pics that I believe are from the '69 1000.

Hope you enjoy them.

Hey Again,

Here are four shots from what I believe is the '71 Mint 400.

The pictures aren't the best; but, they are pictures of Broncos!

The two Broncos in the last shot are two of the propane rigs.

Hi Guys,

I'll do my best to get some more good pictures posted this weekend. (Also borrowing a projector to take a look at what's on the 8 mm film reel.)

I'm attaching 8 picture this morning. Based on the slide dates and some of what's shown in the background of the pics, I'm pretty sure these are also of the '71 Mint 400. Nothing spectacular about these.... hoping they will bring back some memories to someone reading the thread.

More to come.

(There are a few pics that I've posted that I'll work on getting improved. If anyone sees a pic that of particular interest please let me know.)

Have a great Saturday!

Jeff

Hi Guys,

I'm not quite so pressed for time now so I'm digitizing some more slides. The sad part is that I see the end of the interesting slides in sight. I feel like if I take more time stretching this out, I'll get more out of it. Even though I'd like to make this last a little longer, I will probably go through the last few dozen slides by next weekend.

(There are some slides of buggies and race vehicles at some of the races that I haven't digitized. Some of the shots are from a far distance, and the quality just isn't that good. I didn't really think there would be much interest in them, so I'll hold them back.)

Based on Todd's input earlier in the thread, I believe these pics are also of the '72 California 400. I'll post eight here, and eight in my next post.

I hope you enjoy them.

Take Care,

Jeff

I enjoy all of your pictures of a time and place that I have only read about. They give a behind the scene look at it all.

Hi Everyone,

Sad to say that I processed the last of the slides today... at least the ones tie into Broncos and Stroppe. I'll be going through other slides to see if I overlooked anything.

I'll be posting the remaining pics over the next 10 days or so. I don't want to stretch them out too long. I hope everyone enjoys them.

Here are some more pics from the '71 Mint 400.

Have a great weekend.

Jeff

Great Bronco Pics and some awesome "never before seen" shots of Big Oly. This one must be Big Oly with a different paint job?? Spare tire mounted differently and I don't know what that blue tank is in the rear, but the coleman water jugs and blue plexi are a dead giveaway! lol

Hi Scott,

I'll rely on a couple of the resident gurus to answer your question.

There are several more pics of that race that should be interesting to you, too.

Take Care,

Jeff

Yep Scott, that's Big Oly when she was still Crazy Colt, in Johnny Lightning livery, in one of the few races powered by propane supplied by Jeffs dad! Awesome stuff!

Love all those
First pic with Dick Russell hustling!
Second pic with CHiP officer
Third pic bronco with roof light
And the last with all the tow rigs and a beetle.

Funny thing. This guy came up to me sitting in my 68 and he proceeded to tell me he used to grind the tread off these tires and mold on new tread for some race team. He said it was when he was in his 20s. Then he told me it was Mickey Thompson and Panelling Jones. I told I was watching this blog. That is why I enjoy these old trucks. So many great stories.
Thanks for sharing yours!
