Yeah I have a similar sentiment. I feel like the floor mats that Icon uses with the integrated dynamat could be a middle of the road solution that retains the originality of the floors but still provides some heat and sound control.

Yeah it's the new metal u strip with the felt inside. Here's a link from Bronco Graveyard with a better pic:

You should be able to pry the actual felt piece along the chrome strip out of the vent window channel. Then the new one just presses right in.
I think this is the link to the new piece:

I’ve done it once. Still had the original rope seal in there and it came out pretty easy. Putting the new one back in proved difficult to get right, and it ended up still leaking. Getting the oil pan gasket correctly placed was just as frustrating.
I’d probably pull the engine if I were to do...
Interesting note on the locator pin, I’ve never seen another U14 in person so haven’t been able to make those comparisons.
All signs point to mine being an original half cab. U14 VIN (paint and options match VIN too so appears to be accurate VIN). Drill dimples for full top brackets still...
1970 U14
I went out to take some measurements for you but maybe they differ by years? No locating pins on my half cab top and only one forward bolt hole.
Below is driver side, passenger was slightly different.

Congrats! Post up some pics when you get a chance.
You originally from Indian Land? I live down the road in Rock Hill but grew up in IL/FM.

I also did the WH 2.5” lift.
The adjustable track bar is a little too long and the original track bar is too short. I’m going to try new bushings in the original track bar since the existing ones are a little worn and compressed.

I’ve got one I’d like to sell if you want to figure out a way to ship it. I’m in South Carolina. I can provide many more pics and info if interested.
