I'm trying to collect some information on one of my Broncos and I'm finding a lot of conflicting dates/codes/features. Since I didn't find anything in my searches. If you have a 1966 v8 (N-Code), please list up here.

So far I've been able to determine my was April 66 but has anyone seen a double VIN stamp on their frames? I have two VIN's one that has a star and a "V" next to it and the other with a "+" matching the VIN tag. Was this an assembly line mistake or re-issue? The numbers are all the same except for one digit.

That V8 info is mixed into the last few pages of either "Share Your Marti" thread or "Earliest Known broncos to exist" thread, I can't remember which. Seems like there's a couple of 830000 vins in there.

I have a 74 ranger that has 2 VIN #'s stamped on it, the one with stars on each end and another one that matches the data plate and door jamb sticker. Both VIN's are stamped in both locations on the passenger side frame rail. And it was all original before I started stripping it down.

Any chance the 2 VIN's are off by one number? I'm thinking someone just lost count and it was a mistake.

I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it was off by more than that. It did have a repair done at the factory, so that might be why.
I know it was factory because the only primer/paint on it was red oxide primer and white paint, no other paint or primer on it anywhere.

Hey Chris, any idea who purchased the Oregon Auction Pony? Would like to fill in the blanks on ownership and location. Thx, Tim

Hey Tim,
Sorry, I have no idea who ended up with that one. You actually would have been my go to guy for that information. ;D

This thread stopped a few years ago, but I've been looking for how many 1966 U14 289 were made. My VIN is U14NL839556. I have the VIN decoded and matching numbers for engine/drivetrain. Not looking for value, just an idea of how many were made and what I may be sitting on. Currently, it's in drivable condition, but needs body, paint, and interior work. Basically, trying to determine if the history is more important than the mods I'm planning. My dad bought it from a friend 27 years ago and didn't get the provenance. Fenders are cut, engine/drivetrain are original, otherwise I can't say. Thanks!
