Replacement door post, is this twisted?

So I purchased a replacement drivers side door post. I bought the more expensive made in America one with the hope that the quality would be acceptable and a close fit. It seems like it is twisted or some how off. I understand replacement parts are not an exact fit and they may need to be tweaked. I have not entirely cut out my old post yet, but I am in the process of replacing the inner kick panel. My thought is that the flange that accepts the weather stripping should be offset by around 1/4 in. from the other flange that welds to the kick panel towards the front of the truck, but they should be essentially parallel. The door post seems to have a significant twist as seen in the pictures. Is my thinking off or is this the way the post is supposed to be?

It's correct, the rear flange leans in at the top. It will match the flange in the kick panel. Study the original some more

this is one of those difficult to explain fitment issues. The rear edge of the kick panel has a flight offset built into it at the top, tapering to nothing at the bottom. It's also leans in approximately 1/2" at the top, just like the door post. So the front flange of your new door posts fits the kick panel sheet, and the offset at the rear of your new door post should match the offset in the kick panel.
Clear as mud I hope!
The distance between the door post from side to side is 1" narrower at the top than at floor level (56" vs 57" at floor level). This is due to the 1/2" offset.

Put it together with sheet metal screws till it's right with door installed, then start welding. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done body wise. I repair mild rusted ones 90% of time, I will try to find a picture.
