Fuel gauge reads empty, 80 ohms from sending unit, but tank is actually full

Also, I grounded the gauge and it reads full so that is working.

is the tank selector switch on the dash working or wired correctly?

Float sank
Float fell off
Sender got jammed

Whatever it is, you will be pulling the sender out of the tank to find/fix it. Could be as simple as attaching the float back on the arm or unjamming the float arm. Or it could be a new sender is needed.
