Chevy Heater Motor Upgrade Question

I am in the middle of this, awaiting the new reseal kit, and decided to drill out the rivets to sandblast all the metal and paint it. I plan to use screws and bolts to put it back together, but wondered if I need to put some type of sealant along that edge? I read up on it and just saw where people either screwed it back together or used rivets again. No mention of the sealant, but it seems like a good idea. Anyone done this?

on the part where you can open it to get to the heater core? or the part for the motor...
i used sealant on both, that way the heater can really do its thing.

On the part that's normally riveted down. What type of sealant did you use? I just want to do this right the first time and be done with it.
