I have a 1977 Ford Bronco rear gas tank that has small cracks just below the fill tube. Is there any way to refurbish it? If not where might I find one or a tank that will work. Bronco graveyard does not have the tank that is on it.

PawsBronc, welcome to CB.
I'm the original owner of a '77 with dual tanks.
Within three years of new, I had to replace both gas tanks because of leakage around the fill neck. These plastic tanks were junk. I tried sealing them with epoxy and plastic welding without success.
I ended up replacing both with tanks from Aero Tanks.
Feel free to private message me if needed.

Fuel sending unit retaining nut !977

Did you repair this tank or replace it? I'm trying to find someone with the plastic retaining nut for the sending unit. TIA

I also bought my '77 new. The auxiliary tank cracked at the neck but the main tank never caused any problem. The skid plate was thin sheet metal that couldn't protect anything. Plus, water pooled in the bottom and rusted it out. The after market skid plate is nearly bullet proof. So for me the '77 main tank is perfectly good. I would keep a '77 if I were you. They turn up on ebey and the classified parts for sale often. It may take some patience.

Check the classifieds on here. Bronconut1 has a couple tanks, I’m sure he would sell you one, just contact him.

There was a discussion not long ago about whether or not the retaining ring on the Bronco was the same one used on full-size pickups of that vintage too.
I don't remember if anyone said yay or nay on it, but the pickup version is available new from suppliers like LMC, which probably means Dennis Carpenter and Scott Drake as well.
I don't think we've sold them yet, but I would be very interested in hearing whether or not the two are the same.

crack is a crack on the stock plastic fuel cell. it has happened on my 77. went with an aftermarket 23 gallon tank.
