Baja or Bust Build Thread

Hello All...

I've been meaning to start a build thread for a while on our race truck...

In 1997 Brian Carver and I drove a Class 3 1976 Bronco from Maine to the SCORE Baja 1000. Raced, had a great time, and then drove it back to Maine. We are currently rebuilding the same truck to drive back and race the SCORE Baja 1000 again in 2017 for our 20th race anniversary.

One of the write ups of our adventure can be read here;

http://www.off-road.com/aimages/arti...1/article.html

Here is the earliest photo, circa 1996, we have of the truck before any modifications were made.

And a photo from 2015 when we moved it into my garage after 18 years of unkind storage.

I will add more photos as I am able to find them in my computer...

I rebuilt a Dana 20 transfer case by combining a J shift and a T shift. Used the T shift gears and the J shift rails and J shift front shaft. JB Fab twin sticks. Wild Horses Extreme duty output...Lots of help and advice from here on ClassicBroncos...

I also rebuilt the transmission. It is a close ratio top loader Ford 4 speed. Close ratio because it fits our needs. Hurst shifter. I used the advanced adapters kit to mate to transfer case. Lots of parts and help from David Kee transmissions...

Thanks all!

2015: Mocked up with used 4x4x2 steering box. BC Broncos reinforcement kit. I will be buying an all new 4x4x2 box, pump, etc. from BC as soon as they get back from SEMA. I plan to run a cooler and filter as well...
