I bolted them on so I can remove them to go back to original if I ever wanted or to remove them and just repaint them of need be.

And that too

When we doing a day or weekend run. Hopefully it warms up a little soon

Updated my interior and wiring last December and the past July I changed to a 5.0/4R70W tranny from an Explorer... I guess it’s time to update my build thread. It’s only been over a year. .

This past April I also switched to 5.38 gears in the axles and played my knuckles while it was apart...

how do you like the blue lights? I find blue switch lights is usually terrible at night so have always shied away to more red or green. really curious to your opinion.

I actually like them... the switches are far enough down that they don’t interfere with driving at night. Even the blue leds in the gauges are not bad. I’d love orange, but red and amber is all that’s out there... not a fan of either.

Nice job David.
Didn't you have 351W in the beginning? Curious why you dropped back to 302/5.0, was it due to Ford EFI stuff?

Yes, I was running a 351w, I had some cam problems and needed it up and running for Colorado last July. Wanting to do the Explorer Efi and tranny anyway, I switch to a 302 because it was ready to go. I’ll get back to the 351w this winter hopefully.

Well, it finally happened… It was layed on its side. My son wrecked it at about 35-45 MPH on a gravel road. He swerved to miss a dear and ran off the right side. The passenger tire went up the embankment while the drivers tire went down into the ditch. This launched it for about 15-20 ft, sliding as it touched down on its side for about 25-30 more feet. He was perfectly fine, not even a scratch and the cage held up amazing.

The rebuilding has already begun. It will be done in a couple of stages. OCBR is only a month and a half away, so I’m going to get it back to wheeling and driving. The bodywork and repaint along with some of the more time consuming parts to replace will come this winter. It took a bunch of relief cuts and pulling to get the bumper close. It will have to be replaced too before the final assembly and painting is done. The one side is still 3/8” higher, the center of its warped beyond repair.

Bummer! Glad your son is okay. Looks like the truck will be "healed" fairly soon.
