Well, figured i would bite the bullet and start a "Build" thread. Maybe at worst it will help keep me somewhat motivated on this project. Be forewarned as this thread will be slow but hopefully can keep it at least a snails pace.

I am really trying to get my garage finished and in order first. If i get into the Bronco too much i might regret not getting the garage completed. Also have my Fairlane resto to finish.

Anyway, a bit of history on the bronco:

Purchased the 71' in 1988 for $1500. Came with another spare drivetrain (302), dana 44, 3-speed man. tranny and dana20 TC.

Used as a daily driver till about 1994, (yes this included Newengland winters) Untill i hit a excessively lifted expansion gap on a iced over bridge. Wound up riding up the sidewalk, hitting and removing 25' of chainlink fence only to come to rest against a 8" hemlock. This sheared my tube bumper off the frame, trashed the grill, driver fender, took a 2" branch through the new Jeff's bronco GY radiator and slightly bent the front driver body mount bracket. So it has been sitting ever since but yard driven most every year since.

The 71 has a 302 which is in great shape and runs great, power steering, Weland alum. intake, holley 600, double roller timing chain and high volume oil pump. Has 3-speed hurst shifter with Ram thunderbolt clutch. The 3.50 9" is a large bearing with 28 spline currie axles with rear truss bar, rebuilt spicer shafts, Warn premium hubs and junk Rancho's with kicker shocks.

The PO had "done" the floors, kick panels and inner fender skirts. Only problem was the floors/kickpanels were 1/8" diamond plate steel that were half ass welded. The skirts had rough cut sheet riveted over them. In a nut shell it was pretty roughhed out from the PO. Looked pretty good from the outside. I think the only thing he did that i liked was the custom front and rear bumpers but their heavy as heck.

The front clip is pretty much junk which includes the windshield frame. The kick panels were welded to the sides of the dash so getting that out in one piece might be fun.
Pics of the Bronco outside the garage i'm trying to finish.
Pic of a 35mm photo. She had 35x12.5"s . This was just before i swapped in the large bearing axle.

I would get the garage done first. Once you get started on the Bronco rebuild it will have a way of taking up all your extra time.

Dave,

Awesome looking garage! Keep in touch as I will have parts flowing both ways quite a bit! Are those kicker shocks on the rear I see?

Thanks Guys for the comments on the garage. Everyone calls it my "Man Town". I have a build thread on that too if anybody's interested in checking it out.

Yeah, the kicker shocks were originally "bars" purchased from Duffs in the late 80's but were a bit stiff so i swapped in the shocks. I had guessed awhile ago that they were out of style as no one seems to use them anymore. It also has the Duff rear axle truss which i don't see anymore either. I think i will probably keep that though.

Pete, Randy,
Will do. I have some extra parts as well. We might be able to swap something we can both use.

I have already started to tear into it abit. Wanted to remove most of the scrap so i could better evaluate. I would like to maybe get some of your proffesional opinions on it at sometime in the future if your up for a visit.

Here's a couple more pics. These are about were it stands today.

Wife was cleaning out one of the bedroom closets and found some of the old photo albums. Found a few of the old Bronco.

Taken in 1990, a buddy, the wife and myself went to some sand drags somewhere in Maine and one of her parked at our then apartment.

Didn't do much today, tore the old dash pad off and removed the heater box. Was home to many a rodent over the years. The windshied hinge is frozen so used my air chisel to blast the rear dash screw heads off

Ironic that the Craftsman shop vac hose fits the duct perfect
