After getting the frame back from sand blast I wanted to get it coated asap. I had never sprayed before with a real spray gun, this was my first attempt. Overall for the first spray job it went pretty well. I bought a cheap H.F. gravity feed gun. I used a 1.8 tip to spray the POR 15. I thinned it down with about 10% solvent. This seemed to work the best. The first coat went on I waited about 3 hrs then applied a second coat of the base rust prevent . I finished this up around 1am. Back up at 6am to shoot the first coat of POR topcoat. They recommend you don't let the paint cure completely before adding other coats they say it should be a little tacky. Maybe 4 hrs after the first topcoat I added the second and final topcoat. All in All very happy with the coverage. The latest pic here I posted wasn't the final coat so it even looks a little bit better. My powdercoated parts even match very well, Springs, track bar, tranny cross member and other parts. Time to work on new gears for the 9" and all new bearings and seals. Then paint 44 and 9" and rear leafs.

Powder/ POR 15

I got several parts back from powder coat. you can see the frame is POR 15 and the tranny cross member is powder. Pretty close. well close enough for me.

I got my homemade paint booth set up today and some more POR 15 sprayed. Man this stuff is messy. All the prep and bs is worth it because this sprayed great. Ive tried brushing this and just can't get the killer look of spray. I did my axles 9" and 44. and several odds and ends parts. I only did 1 coat rust preventative and 1 top coat on top of sand blasted parts hope its enough. I did get very good coverage.

Time to start running my fuel lines and brake lines. After the axles dry then I can start putting this beast together. I had the radius arms powder coated they turned out flawless.

44 complete

I finished POR my 44 early this morning so decided to stuff it under the frame and attach it the new 3.5" coils and freshly powder coated radius arms, all new bushings on all parts.

I put the 9" in today. Fresh POR on the axle and springs. The shocks are garbage I had laying around the shop just wanted to see what shock would look like on the new inner shock hoop on the rear and on the double fronts.

Put my 23 gal. tank in place. I put some thin rubber in between the mounting strap and tank. Also in front of the tank on the frame cross member. There is a 1" body lift going on the tub so I added 1" rubber discs to the top of the tank and screwed them into the lifted tabs. This should work well as a buffer between the tub. I will plumb the tank and fuel lines before mounting the tub.

I have been making some good progress lately. Removed old bearings off axles and pressed on new ones with my little helper. Brake lines all done too.
