I'm very impressed with my 2012 5.0 f150, huge difference from my 2001 4.6. Can't wait to haul some more broncos home!

How well does she pull up a grade? Does it handle the load going down a steep grade. Why I'm asking ,is I'm thinking of down sizing from my 97 HD 250 with a gas hog, big block 460.To something with better gas mileage, easer to park at the grocery store, and a little easier on the back(skyjacker 4inch lift )not nice on the bumps.;D

Honestly not a whole lot of hills where I live close to town, but the couple small ones sure didn't feel like I was pulling a loaded trailer.

I'm certainly not putting down anyone else's choice in trucks, but depending on who you are and what you want, be careful before jumping in to newer trucks. I went from a '95 F-150 SuperCab (351/E4OD/3.55) to an '07 F-250 Crew Cab (5.4L/6 spd manual/3.73 gears). Within a month I knew I had made a huge mistake. About a year later I got rid of the '07 and got an '02 F-350 Crew Cab PowerStroke/auto (and 3.73 gear, I think). That was a mistake too. Now I'm back in a '97 F-250HD and I love it.

I know people that love the SuperDuties, and I'm not saying they're bad trucks, but personally I just never liked driving either of mine. They aren't newer, better versions of the old truck you have. If you like what they are, great! But don't buy one assuming you'll like it.

That's why I wanted at least a 2011, that's when they got rid of the Triton and stepped up to the 5.0.

Nice haul and hauler!!
I went from an 05 Super duty 6.0 power stroke to a 2011 f150 crew cab with the 5.0 and 3.73 gears. You can tell the bronco is back there (mostly because I was pulling with a f250 diesel before). It rides a ton better without a trailer but that's expected. Also found my f150 with the full tow package including brake controller. If I pulled all the time the f250 would be a no brainier, but the 5-6 times a year I pull it just wasn't worth it and I needed a crew cab for my growing family.
It took me a little getting used to the higher RPM range of that 5.0. It's very happy in the 3k + RPM band as that is where it develops the higher torque and HP range...

The 5.0 is a great motor. We pulled some heavy trailers with my 2013 F150 XL 4x4 with the 5.0. Never let us down been a really good truck. We now have a 2016 F250 service body truck 4x4 with the 6.2 gas motor. We mainly tow with that now, but to be honest the F150 with the 5.0 pulls the lighter trailers as easily as the F250. So we kept the F150 for running around for parts or delivering small loads. I also use it for running to the dump and hauling mulch in the spring.

You know you're a bad-ass when you chain up the EB to get it on the trailer...just saying. Congrats on the new rig.

That sends chills down my spine......would not have wanted to be along for the ride. Glad your friends are OK, hope the hot rod can be repaired.

My thoughts exactly. Those straight cab short beds are pretty short. I towed a similar trailer with my '93 Bronco and it was prone to sway.

I've never had any real close-calls towing but I try to get some tongue weight (my DD is a '13 3500 SRW Megacab and I tow quite a bit). The weird things that have happened were when I did not have enough tongue weight. I try to think about getting 10% on the tongue and not exceed 1100#'s or so without having weight-distribution. Any more than that without WD and it's bordering on unsafe.

Trailer weighs 4,520 + Bronco at around 4,000# = ~852#'s on the tongue.
