After getting the frame back from sand blast I wanted to get it coated asap. I had never sprayed before with a real spray gun, this was my first attempt. Overall for the first spray job it went pretty well. I bought a cheap H.F. gravity feed gun. I used a 1.8 tip to spray the POR 15. I thinned it down with about 10% solvent. This seemed to work the best. The first coat went on I waited about 3 hrs then applied a second coat of the base rust prevent . I finished this up around 1am. Back up at 6am to shoot the first coat of POR topcoat. They recommend you don't let the paint cure completely before adding other coats they say it should be a little tacky. Maybe 4 hrs after the first topcoat I added the second and final topcoat. All in All very happy with the coverage. The latest pic here I posted wasn't the final coat so it even looks a little bit better. My powdercoated parts even match very well, Springs, track bar, tranny cross member and other parts. Time to work on new gears for the 9" and all new bearings and seals. Then paint 44 and 9" and rear leafs.
