Wheel and tire rant!

I agree for the most part. Those 20's with rubber bands are rediculous.
Now my uncut LUBR is running 17" wheels with about a 32x10 tire, and I love it. It is a street truck and might see a forest road or two but that's it. So for me the on road handling is more important. Now the off road bronco has 37x12.5x15's because I want the side wall flex, so I guess you need to pick your poison and what makes your bronco yours?!

For my taste, I mostly agree that anything over 17" on the Early Bronco looks almost fictional..(Like some hotwheels toy). ...and while we are on the rant, I personally don't like the look of most of the modern styled wheels on Broncos. I think this same feeling is universal too, because I see these same "HotWheels" styled LUBERs on the big auctions over and over and they don't sell, and on over priced ebay over and over with no bids. Then shows up a rusty crusty barn find 'survivor' needing a 150 hours of metal repair with original hubcaps, or even those phantom original 16" steelies, and it will have 44 bids and 6 days to go!!!

While there are a lot of 16 and 17 inch tires available, I found very few off road tired that weren't "E" rated in those sizes.
10 ply tires have way too much carcass for a light vehicle.
I just went back to 15" rims for that reason.

I don't like the big wheels either. I have 15's with 39's and but wouldn't mind 17's for more brake clearance. That being said, I had a customer come through with a 2011 Harley F150 4x4 with factory 22's and p275/55-22 tires. He wanted more sidewall but didn't want a crazy tall tire requiring a bunch of lift. We leveled the truck and put on 33-12.50-22 Nitto's on it. Still looked kinda goofy if you ask me. It was even a huge difference compared to the trucks we have with 20's.

Here is a picture of my 77 I sold this year with 285x75x17s (34s) and 17x9" wheels.

It's the largest diameter wheel I would go with.

A classic style of wheel, those look much better on a classic.

I like it, that is similar to what I am doing but probably black wheels.

I went with 35s on 15" rims for the sole reason that they were $100 less than the same tire in 17" rim...what gives? I felt pretty good because the savings covered my new pro-comp 1069 bullet hole rims...BAM!

I took 37 X17's off the truck because they made it look like a caricature. I put 315/75R16's on it. I think they're just about perfect in looks and behavior. Now if I could just figure out how to modify the bed so I don't have to have a 3" BL under the cab.
