I got to work on the Bronco some last week and today. I finished up the rocker panel.

Today, I mounted the fenders and fit the grill as best I could. I am not a body man, but it is close enough for me.

I also marked and drilled the holes for the grill trim and grill letters. That is time consuming if you have never done it. LOL

I am also trying to figure a way to put my fuel pump in the tank without buying a different fuel tank.

Anyway, slowly marking things off the list. Deer season ends this weekend and I got to rebuild the rear end in my 66, but after that I hope to start spending more time working on Festus.

I picked a set of new 31 spline Yukon axles about a year ago from a guy selling all of his bronco parts. I had already built the rear end in Festus with a 28 spline true trac. However, the rear end in my 66 starting roaring so I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade Festus' with a 31 true trac and the Yukon axles since I had to rebuild a rear end anyway. I have not completed it yet, but will post a few pictures when complete.

I have the rear end built, but now have to install it and the axles. I finished up the 66 rear end today. It was not as simple a just swapping Festus' rear end over to the 66 and building the 66 with the 31 spline stuff as the 66 has the fill plug in the housing and Festus has it in the chunk. Therefore I had to take both rear ends out at the same time and remove the ring gear from the 28 spline true trac in Festus and put the ring gear on the 31 spline true trac and reinstall it. Aggravating, but it is how I had to do it so I would have a way to fill with oil. lol

I am trying to keep moving forward on Festus, so I can get it finished one day.

Well, it has only been 4 years since I posted an update. I guess life slows you down on projects at times.

Anyway, I got back to working on Fetus about a month ago. Making a little progress and trying to finish it up.

Doing some welding, fitting doors/tailgate, and cutting holes for transmission and twin stick shifter. I got a big list to get knocked out before paint, but getting there.

Sorry about side ways pictures. Dang iPhone.

If you would stop working on everyone else's stuff maybe you could finish Festus - maybe.

Hot Dog!! I've kinda been depressed because there seemed to be very few build threads going on here on CB. Back in the day, there were a bunch of them and I loved watching the progress!

Hey Lane, you better watch that guy hanging out in the shadows there in your shop!!...put him to work!!

Shoot....If the quantity and the quality of the food is what I would guess it is, you might get Festus finished pretty quick!..... Will work for food!

Well, seems like I post once a year or so...LOL...It has only been 10 1/2 years since I started this journey, but I am still slowly plugging away at it. I think I named it correctly (Festus) as it has been stubborn and bull headed at times, but so am I and so maybe we are turning the corner. I read back through this thread and I originally hoped to have it at Supercelebration 2015, now I am shooting for 2023.

Since my last post I have swapped the fenders to better ones and went with some new doors. I cut and fixed the gap at the top of the doors, and made several other adjustments by cutting, welding, hammering, etc.... I finally got stuff aligned and got the top ready and finally got it off to paint. I pleased to say that after 10 1/2 years I have a painted bronco body. Tom and his crew at Lick Creek Restorations got it laid down and I picked it up this week. I am very excited about this stage. I have been gathering parts for years and I always said that once I get it painted I can work on it a while and not have to buy anything...LOL. Well, now on to installing the engine, transmission, transfer case, wiring, interior, bumpers, and everything else.....
