Thoughts on this 79?

Ok. I may buy a 79. This thing seems pretty solid. What should I look for on these. I havent followed the prices on these and this one seems cheap but Im used to looking at early broncos. Id appreciate any input. I know, the hood scoop is horrible but the rest seems ok. It hasnt been on the road since 2011 so what should I do before I start it? I would probably just change all fluids and tires and drive it. Id be on the search for a hood. I assume any 78-79 truck would fit. How much is a solid 79 worth? Oh. And the shifter would need to go

It clearly lived another life as a really big/lifted truck.
So look for issues that may arise from that earlier life.

I think its bitchin.
I would buy it in a second.

It looks like its got good bones to me.

Ha ha ha. You may be right. But Im jealous. Some of you guys have a bunch of these things. The two I have Ill be afraid to drive if its calling for rain. I just thought for $4500 I can drive this whenever I want. I already know where I can get a cheap hard top but I was just thinking of getting a soft top. I think I could give it a good cleaning and find me a hood that Id paint myself and sell it for more than that after I drive it a while. But, like I said, Im used to pricing the older ones

door post and floor is the biggest pain on them ... look under all the carpet if solid / rust free get it !

I think the 2 tone xlt w. all the chrome moldings are the next once to increase in value ! the 66-77 are getting harder to find and just like the mustangs for blue collar workers to expensive ...
last weeks SC was a very good example of that trend .... I have never seen so many full size broncos at one event !

I like them like so ... preferably original !

Hey Tug, those flairs look to be the old school "Duff"s" urethane style, same as the "Crazy Horse". Discontinued yeas ago but Bronco Design is looking into bringing them back.

It's only money, I hope the government sends me more tomorrow!!!

Looks like a 460 swap, so look that over and see what kind of hack job was done. As someone mentioned earlier, be leery of poor suspension mods.

If it runs and drives good, and the body is solid, then it seems like a decent deal.

Ck fwd cab mounts/floor pans/rockers/bottom of the B pillar for rust. Lifted and the front end steering suspension NOT done right. Ck that back glass motor to work...always an issue. Craigslist sale the shifter for a 12 Pk.

If you get it, before you start it drop, drain and clean the gas tank, air blow out the lines.

Those fender flares are worth some $$$ to the right 73-79 Ford truck/ 78/79 Bronco crowd. guy. DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY. Or sure throw them away and PM me your dumpsters address. lol

Worn out steering box, Red Head or Blue Top time...worn out rag joint. Bogerson shaft time.

1971 302 35" Boggers 5.38 spool/locker and some other mods.

Those are the out-of-production Bushwacker cutout flares and an NOS set can go for $800 these days. I have a few spares but hope I don't break many more of them on mine..
