Hey! No pics of picking the coyote up form my house?!?

Happy to see you've got this thread going and can't wait to see where it ends up!

Feb 3 2013 is when we picked up the engine, Oct 31st 2013 Halloween is when we got the headers, cross member, trans adaptor etc. Now came the hard part... we had to wait and for the Pcm's to be cracked and to come back to us which also Included; power steering pump, wiring harness, wiring instructions and belts.

There was a lot of down time in during this period, so I tried to get as much done as possible in selecting what route I would go with this build. I had some ideas in my head of how the interior was going to look like, so I drew up some drafts with a friend.

In the mean time I was able to find a cheap 67 bronco that needed a lot of work. It was my own personal challenge to get that thing running and flip it for some extra cash. I learnt a lot about wiring, as I had to rewire the entire bronco. Also, at this time I was learning how fab and to weld, I wanna thank Hezi, over at Hezi auto repair in the valley for his help. They do great work on custom jeeps over there 🏻.

Continuing on:

So the parts finally ended up coming in on Nov 12, 2014..

We quickly started to piece everything together and were so happy to get one of them started. (Sorry, we had 2 Broncos getting the swap at the time. So, everything was double ordered). A customer at ASC had his bronco deconstructed and ready to go before me. So, we used his as a platform to get the swap running 1st.

Now at this time, my friend with a 2014 5.0 mustang just put in a ford racing boss intake on his coyote. He took me for a drive and I was in tears from laughing and in awe of the raw power of this beast. His gear ratio was 3:15 and was still able to burn rubber in 2nd and 3rd while rolling...

David and I started talking.. He suggested I do it too..Then the decision was made and we decided to go for it!!

I just want to say, I wasn't able to get the heads from Cleveland but, I was able to get the intake. This kit added another 60 horses to the rear.

So after years of pondering what route I would go.. I had in mind to do a 3 link/4 link setup all along, but that had already been done.. That quickly changed when I saw Jake powers bronco on insta with the front and rear 4 link.. I wanted the 4 link/ 4link so bad that I decided to reach and see how it was done and if I could do it.. My plan is to go with 35's and do a slightly dumbed down version of his.

My plan with this build was to make it ready for whatever was thrown at it. I wanted to upgrade from the Dana 44 but wasn't sure how. I found out with time that a few people were doing a 609 front axle build. I loved the concept and was worried about the d60 being to big and overkill. This 609 was perfect for what I wanted, clearance and 1 ton outers. I'm sure all of you know what it is, but if not.. it's a 9" housing with d60 outers 35 spline all the way. Because my 76 came with the big bearing kit I was a head of the game with making the rear 9" 35spline too. I will be going 8 lug with this build.

So after much thought and research I pulled the trigger and started working with Shaun over at Sun fire off-road, IN. In getting the parts that I needed and wanted.. Thanks for everything Shaun!

After much debate, with digger and myself (thanks again digger for all your help, you're a genius) I decided to go with the air shocks over coilovers. Reason behind my decision? I wanted something new and different, plus I have another build after this one that's going to have coilovers which would be set up as more of a desert runner than a mountain weekend climber. Here are some shots of the 12" ORI STRUTS with res.

I had to start getting the front currie fab 9 ready for the 609 build. I was pretty excited to send it out to currie.... But then, hours later I decided to drive there instead because I wanted to see it in person 🏻

If you can zoom in on the right corner, you can see the my brown (rusty looking) axle laying on the ground in pieces ready to be worked on. FYI bought that housing for $200.. 1 of the best deals ever. (That's another fun story)

June 16th:

3 things that sucked when drove to Corona to visit Currie:

- It took 2hrs each way with traffic
- I got a ticket for not having a toll road sticker

....And I'm still waiting for my axle!!

I think waiting for parts is one of the hardest things to do..

In the meantime I decide to do what I wanted to do years ago about my nonexistent tailgate... GET ONE!

I decided to cut open my completely FINE boxed nonexistent fiberglass tub and begin the stages for adding a tailgate.

June 10th:

More tailgate work, I bought some cold rolled steel to use as my tailgate frame. This will be the base support for the new tailgate and also the body. Body mounts and bolts will be mounted through the steel, straight to the frame. The roll cage will be tied into the metal piping which is extra strength for body and cage for better articulation. The metal inserts will then be braced to the tailgate frame and also glassed to the body with 3m structural epoxy.

Still working on the tailgate, thing is a pain in my butt.. But it's definitely going to look good in the end 🏼.

June 18th:
I was able to make the metal brackets for the connection from the fiberglass body to the metal framing. Placement would be behind the framing in towards the body. (Inside the quarter panels). Bolts will screw down from the top of the body where the hardtop sits. I decided to use bolts to mount the brackets to the metal tailgate framing too, that way it wouldn't be as difficult to remove in the future.. You know, if it ever got into an accident... (knock on wood)

Got to use the tig welder today, but I was rusty and in a rush.. Little messy if you ask me..

I used the drill press to make the holes for the bolts on the brackets, I still have to make a brace for the actual panels to the inserts. That way the body lines up and is straight.

Currie finally shipped my axle!! Here is a pic of the nicely welded and balanced 609 axle that I've been dreaming about 🏻

Cool build! Keep it coming I am sure you can't wait to get it on the road. 609 looks pretty sweet along with the Coyote!
