I have never been happy with my Toms seats. I believe they are just bestops that are bought direct from china. I have a buddy that does upholstry on the side and he hit it out of the park with these. I had recovered in high end marine vinyl. Heated and marine. These should do nicely.

I would have dimpled it the inter direction...still looks pretty sweet man. Powder coated I'm assuming?

I agree, I would have them swapped over the other way. I know you were worried about holding debris but they were solid from the factory and lasted 40+ years, draining is not a big issue and with the holes, being able to flush it will make clean up easier. Either way, strength is the main thing behind the dimples. I am not running a skid plate for now, I have my original but it will be off for a while till I am sure no leaks etc. Either way, have fun with it and make it yours.

duffy- you can reverse the dimple easy enough that will change the look. just redimple it the other way..
you can also get a more definitive look if you do one more press with the female die onto a wider than the die flat piece to push the area flat around the raise. it gets that pucker look out of the dimple transition . that's usually from the thick material or not enough press pressure.

it's also on the very bottom of the truck and you will will totally not notice it as it's not staring you in the face as you look at your beauty when she's done.

i like dimples. they are sexy

I got the rear end fully done and the rear brakes done. I am very happy with how it turned out. I got the zinc ubolts from wildhorses. I love the look of zinc and the satin black powder.

I don't want the dimples going the other way. I should have just left it with holes. Oh well, nobody will ever notice it.

Either way you have one hell of a nice build going. I'm a huge fan of the powder coat look as well. I'd be almost afraid to drive this one down the street! ALMOST.
Keep up the great work and the posts, it's great to see all the new and differant things everyone is trying.

I got the 1 ton steering mocked up. A huge thanks to Nick from Nickstrixs for the help and the idea to do this.

I screwed it up the first time and the second time. Here it is all correct, I need to remake one of the dom tubes, it's not long enough.

I got my mounts made and installed for my 4r70w. I went with one gauge thicker steel, tig welded and then powder coated. I just used 3x3x3 L channel, welded end caps in. The length is 8.5" that makes it fit perfectly while using the stock holes. Next is new drive lines and exhaust!

Do not measure for your driveline until after the tub is set and you have some weight in it. The difference is not great but could be enough that could cause a problem. Once the tub is on, I would throw about 150# of weight in it then pull your measurements. Also don't forget to get a smaller diameter front drive shaft so it will clear your trans oil pan. Your moving right along, keep it up!

I used lead weights to get my measurements for my drivelines to be more accurate. It compressed the rear springs close to an inch. Which makes the drive lines shorter. Which changed my measurement by around 1/2" or less. Toms said not to worry about it, since they have some play in them

Tom Woods 1310XB. 33" Rear and 27" Front. Polished and clear coated with dust boots. 2" Dom steel. Lots of clearance now.
