You do nice work brother!

I'm not going to use the good doors on the crawler. They are mint original doors, but will go on the green one someday... Likely if I ever get repainted. I am going to work on the other doors I got with the crawler for the crawler.

Thats good to know. I think the green machine would look good with full doors but I am not a fan of the roadster inserts on ay of them. One day we could paint that badboy up. :)

@Mountain Ram if your crawler doors are in rough shape on the skin side, I would seriously concider replacing the skins. I had mine off in about 20 min each and the new ones from Dynacorn look to fit real nice. Might save you some work and they are not that pricey, specially when looking at the price of other doors etc.

I got them on sale at Jeff's and Andy and Chad brought them back for me. I don't think I have 200 in them.

Well I did not get done what I was expecting to but you know how it goes.... I at least got some done then I ran out of media and daylight and I am not blasting inside my garage.... I started with the roughest door and you can see my new blaster and its results. It is a lot slower than a pressurized blaster but it is vary easy to use and operate so here you go. You can see the results and I still have more to do, I will also be grafting a big part of the repair panel in so I will not waste time on what I am cutting out. You can see a quick test fit of the new skin and they are intended to be installed with the window frame removed, since I do not want to do that, I will try to bend the tabs out or just grind them off and weld the skin in that area. There are quite a few welds all around and I will punch some holes before I fold the skin on and rosette weld them here and there.

Send it on over. Better to do it now while I am blasting etc. I will be epoxy primering the inside while the skin is off, will be the only time I can get to that side easily. I also bought a skin zipper tool for folding the edges over,

I'm impressed with your 'take no prisoners' approach to rust! You dive right to the spot where you can attack it! I'm impressed!

I don't want it returning any time soon, that is for certain. I am frame coating all cavities like the one across the cowl, the rockers, door posts etc. Anywhere there is a cavity, it will get coated. The frame, I am taking it to get hot dip galvanized, if this thing needs a resto again, it will be after I am dead and gone and hopefully it will be done by some distant relative... One can hope... LOL

Well it was a no-go on the Duck tonight. On my way to town to get more sand, (20 miles 1 way) and going over a mountain I heard a grinding sound. I stopped to investigate and my pads were metal to metal. I went to Oriellys and bought new pads and rotors and ran my errands. By the time I got home they were making all sorts of noises and I went straight to the shop and got busy. Everything came apart with ease (they should have since these were done about 2 years ago) and all was going well, driver side done and reassembled then onto the pass side. Nearing the final assembly step all I had left was to compress the caliper pistons, install it, put the tire back on and bed them in but nooooo the last piston decides to not compress the last 1/4 inch. I tried everything, pumped it out in case I compressed it a little crooked in the bore and now when it is pushed out, thats where it stays, no going back in so my truck is hanging half out of my shop and I have the old caliper off along with the old pads and rotors to get a refund, this is where the lifetime warranty is great for me, I haven't bought a part other than brake fluid for the past 6 years. So hopefully tomorrow I will get my replacement caliper, finish the truck up, bleed the brakes and then finish blasting the Duck's doors.

Well I didnt progress quite as fast as I had hoped. Last weekend I went to help a Bronco brother find some motivation and we stabbed a fresh motor and trans in a 77 he had painted that has been sitting. Got it to fire up and he had to go get exhaust etc. put on so we can run it in soon. As for The Duck, I worked on it today. Got the doors finish blasted and in ospho. As soon as it dries I will start the repairs tomorrow. At some point I will go back to Blue71 and help him get his cam broke in and the timing dialed in etc. Here are some pics of both...

Well the ospho is drying and I spent some time laying out my plan of attack. I can tell you the patch panel I got from Dennis Carpenter, I am not impressed with the stamp quality at all and you can see why in the pics. My patch panel will work to fix both doors and I did not plan it like that, it just looks like what it will work out too. I know Dynacorn is making new doors and I wish they would sell it in parts, the lower inner braces and a repair panel would be great and save some of us some money. In the pics you can see my lines for my cuts I will be doing tomorrow.

I started cutting on the worst door. The panel is now fit and I have to fab the support brace before I weld it together. I had a visitor today, hope MountainRam gets to come back by soon, I showed him around my farm and we talked broncos of coarse. Taking a break for supper then back to fab the brace. Hoping to get it tacked together tonight.

Well the worst door is now almost the best door. A little patch to make from my screw up of measuring, drill some weep holes back into it and the reinforcement piece to fab and weld in then it is done. Then that would be 1 down 1 to go and I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as welding and grinding goes.

Well its much closer. A little tease of what the finished project will look like as I test fit the skin. All I am lacking is the ospho to dry so I can put on my weld through primer abd weld the brace in. It is not an exact match to what the factory did but it is just as strong and will serve its purpose. I will get it burned in then this shell can be set aside for the other door. Just might have them wrapped up before the weekend.
