Well. After getting into the body a little more, I was thinking it might be above my ability level. I do not have a welder, nor can I weld. I swung by a local auto body shop to talk to them. I have seen several older cars there getting work done as I pass by there almost daily. A guy came up to my house to check out my Bronco. His estimates seemed awfully high. Pictures below show the worst of it, although there is more rust. He estimated parts to be ~$1,500; both inner fenders, kick panels, door pillar, door striker, rockers, (inner&outer). That is about right as I look as vendors. He quoted me 90-100 hours to fix the tub, ~$10,000. Then paint, his estimate on paint was $12-15,000. I told him I just want a decent paint job, not a show truck. Neither of these quotes are in my current budget.
After he gave me the estimate I asked if he wanted to do the job, or was he pricing so high to make me look elsewhere. His answer was kind of neutral. Thoughts?
